About Erinvest Consulting
Erinvest Consulting is the consulting practice of Brad Poulos, a successful Canadian wireless industry veteran, entrepreneur, and teacher. His varied career began after attending the DeVry Institute of Technology and graduating as an Electronic Engineering Technologist in 1983. In 1996 he received a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario (Ivey School of Business).
Mr. Poulos started his career at Telesat Canada where he began as a Technician in Ottawa in 1983. The following year he was transferred to the Arctic where he worked for three years, before returning to Ottawa and taking a position in the Technical Training group as a Trainer. After a year in that position he was again promoted to Calgary where he became manager of the Western operations group.
In 1991 he was moved to Toronto as a Sales Manager, and later launched the first satellite based Internet product in Canada, DirecPC. Upon his departure from Telesat he was responsible for all sales and marketing of non-broadcast products and customers, and had overseen growth of his division from $45 to $75 Million in three years.
In 1998 he became a partner in and President of mmwave Technologies, a small distributor of microwave and radio frequency test equipment and components. He transformed the company into a known brand in the Canadian wireless industry, and one of the early leaders in WiMAX in Canada. During his tenure as President the company grew from $600K in sales to $17 Million in 2001. In 2000 the company's rapid growth was recognized by Profit Magazine as mmwave as #8 on the Profit 100 list of Canada's fastest growing companies. The next year the company was #21 on that same list!
In 2005 mmwave was sold to Wireless Age Communications, a public company. Mr. Poulos was named first President and then later CEO and Chairman, of the parent, Wireless Age, the parent company. During his slightly less than two years as CEO of Wireless Age, the company enjoyed seven consecutive quarters of sales growth. The company also secured a $30 Million, three-year contract for mmwave.
In early 2007 Mr. Poulos resigned from Wireless Age and he now makes his living consulting, teaching, and working in various entrepreneurial activities.
Mr. Poulos has served on the boards of Junior Achievement, The Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association and several other public and private companies. He is currently on the Board of Erin Radio, and the East Wellington Advisory Group, a social services agency. He is also a partner in XTS - a systems integrator and software developer that creates test systems for manufacturers of semiconductors.
