Organization Design
Creating the Right Fit
Time is money, and a well designed organization is efficient. But building an effective organization is much more than creating a cost-effective organization structure. Effective organizational design includes people, processes, structure, management systems, culture, and technology.
Often management preference and historical norms, rather than strategic direction, drive organizational design. Forward thinking business owners and operators know that business strategy should be the key driver for business architecture, operations, and activities.
A well designed organization
- energizes people at every level with knowledge and empowerment
- reacts faster to changes in the environment
- holds managers and team leaders truly accountable for delivering results
- creates flatter organizations and saves money
- makes faster and more informed decisions
Erinvest will help you to diagnose roadblocks, and get full organizational alignment around the business strategy. We look for areas where systems, processes and culture are getting in the way of results, and then clear any unclear or conflicting accountabilities, improve ineffective methods, and assess employee competencies
We then work with you to determine the organizational design requirements. We start at the top and define the best potential organization characteristics, capabilities, and structure as well as the skills and behaviors needed to bring your strategy alive.
If desired we will help you implement your organizational design. We first create a high-level organizational structure, then work with successive layers of management, to develop increasingly detailed organizational designs. Depending on the size of the organization this could include creating organization charts, analyzing and designing jobs and job descriptions, developing organizational capability or competency profiles, producing detailed process maps, establishing manpower requirements, and job compensation levels.
